At just 11 years old, with nothing but belief in his talent and a heart full of dreams, Yashasvi boarded a train to Mumbai in 2010. The city of dreams welcomed him with many challenges.It was a far cry from the calm fields of Suriyawan.he lived to his cousin house for few months but that was not last much there was issue with place to leave and his cousin’s house where he use to stay in mumbai they was not happy as place was not too big to give a shelter to Yashaswi and he left and he got a work and stayed with one of the dairy stall where he use to leave and as well as he use to work and evening he was going to play on ground for some practice matches but this doesn’t last long as dairy person saw that this guy is more into cricket and not more interested to work he literally throwed him out with his bag from the shop and then with no stable shelter, he often slept at Azad Maidan under the open sky where azad maidan staff allowed him to work and stay there but it was difficult to stay due to mosquitos problems specially in summer and rainy days, but he need sleep so he stayed there and to feed himself he sold pani puri on the streets. But what remained unshaken was his dedication to cricket. Hunger and hardship were temporary his dream was forever.
Turning Point to Yashasvi Jaiswal life when he got – A Coach, a Mentor,
Then came a defining moment in the life of Yashasvi ,he was practicing tirelessly at Azad Maidan, Jwala Singh, a coach and founder of the Jwala Sports Foundation, noticed his raw talent. Jwala didn’t see just a boy playing cricket but he saw a fighter and most importantly Jwala Singh offered him not just coaching but also daily meal and a shelter to leave which was more important for Yashasvi and which he was actually looking for the help which was required to him..
Their bonding became one of the mentorships, built on shared struggle and belief. Under Jwala Singh guidance,Yashasvi sharpened his skills, and more importantly, he found someone who believed in his dream as much as he did.
Shattering Records: The Rise Begins
Yashasvi’s breakthrough came in the Giles Shield Tournament, where he scored an astonishing 319 runs the highest ever in the tournament’s history. This wasn’t just a record. It was a resounding message from the boy from Suriyawan had arrived in the city like Mumbai where the competition tough but the talent never stop rising anywhere whatever the situation he is always ready to face the competition.
His journey gathered momentum. At 17, he made headlines again by scoring 203 runs in a List A match during the Vijay Hazare Trophy, becoming the youngest double centurion in the format and this was the performance which actually opened the doors for yashasvi to the IPL, where Rajasthan Royals bought him for ₹2.40 crore in 2020.
Though his early first few IPL seasons were not quite that run scoring for him but Yashasvi kept learning and in 2023, he scored highest of 625 runs in a single season and he also won Emerging Player of the Year award.
