Rahul Dravid’s Early Life and Journey to Cricket
Rahul Sharad Dravid was born on January 11, 1973, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, but grew up in Bangalore. From a young age, his calm demeanour and focus set him apart. His mother who was a well-known professor of architecture she who laid a very strong foundation in Rahul Dravid educational career.

Dravid started his Cricketing journey at the age of 12 and quickly got selected in his school and college cricket and there after he represented Karnataka at various junior levels. His technique and temperament caught the eye of selectors, and soon, he was on the national radar.

The Historic Test Debut and Rise
Rahul Dravid made his Debut in Test on June 20, 1996, at Lord’s which know as mecca of Cricket. Though all eyes were on another debutant, Sourav Ganguly, it was Dravid who scored a gritty 95. The cricketing world took notice. Here was a man who didn’t just play for runs; he played for the team.

His Strike Rate in ODI where 71.25 which is considered as good during those days so Considering Slow Runs and defence in the Test Cricket but he was not atall slow when it was required in the One Day International yes though Rahul Dravid was known for his Test heroics innings but was no less effective in ODIs. He has scored over 10,000 runs in Test Matches as well as One Day International very few are in this race.

He kept wickets when the team needed balance. He led the team when it needed calm. Under his captaincy, India achieved its first Test series win in the West Indies in 35 years and a rare series win in England.

Off the Field – A Role Model as Coach

Post-retirement, he took up coaching roles, shaping the next generation. As head of the National Cricket Academy and coach of India’s Under-19 team, he guided future stars like Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Rahul Dravid was  also the Coach of Indian Under 19 Team in which India won the ICC  World Cup in the year 2018 .Rahul Dravid never courted controversy. No scandals, no headlines for the wrong reasons. Just pure cricket.

He was also a head coach of the Indian national team, bringing the same work ethic and humility to the role as he did during his playing days. Yet, Dravid’s leadership was never about ego. Even after stepping down as captain, he played under others without complaint—a rare quality in modern sport he was not successful as the captain but he took that and succeeded as the Head Coach for Under 19 and later on Indian Cricket Team.
