Sourav Ganguly on INDIA vs PAK Matches Urges to takes Strong Measures: After Pahalgam Attack Calls for Cutting Cricket Ties with Pakistan

Former captain Sourav Ganguly was unanimously elected on October 23 as president of India’s troubled cricket board, the sport’s most powerful body.

In the aftermath of the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 innocent lives, former Indian cricket captain and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has called for decisive action. Speaking to reporters in Kolkata, Ganguly emphasized the need for “strict action” against terrorism and firmly advocated for severing all cricketing relations with Pakistan.

“He said Absolutely, 100 percent, this needs to be done. Such incidents occurring year after year are unacceptable. Terrorism cannot and should not be tolerated,” Ganguly stated, leaving no room for ambiguity.

Historically, India and Pakistan have only clashed on the cricket field during major ICC events such as the T20 World Cup, the ODI World Cup, the ICC Champions Trophy, and ACC-organized Asia Cup tournaments. Their last bilateral cricket series dates back to 2012-13, highlighting how political tensions have already limited sporting engagements between the two nations.

The International Cricket Council (ICC), chaired by Jay Shah, has recently introduced a hybrid hosting model for the 2024–2027 event cycle, allowing tournaments to be held either in India or Pakistan based on mutual agreements.

On the governmental front, India’s response to the Pahalgam attack has been swift and stringent

Also in Champions Trophy we saw India didn’t went to Pakistan to play any matches and instead India played all their matches in Dubai including Semi finals and Finals and it was clear indication to Pakistan that Indian will not go to Pakistan soil to play in matches but as per the current situation after Pahalgam attack it is difficult that India might play any matches against Pakistan Cricket team at least till the time this issue gets sort out India many times has warned Pakistan for this and PCB (Pakistan cricket Board) has faced big losses because of this lie we saw in Champions Trophy in which India Not visiting made huge loss in there Income sources.
