Virat Kohli Shocks BCCI With Possible Retirement

In currently Cricketing world many thing and surprising news are coming, as few days back we saw Rohit Sharma has announce his Retirement from the Test Cricket and now Virat Kohli has given the hints to BCCI also that he might also have a plan to retire from the Test Cricket after the India tour to England.

And it has noticed that this decision of Kohli has surprised as the star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has reportedly expressed his desire to step away from Test cricket ahead of India’s much-anticipated tour of England although the board has urged him to reconsider. The Ex Captain of Indian Team has yet to reply to the board’s appeal.

And More Interestingly it has came to the closely on the heels of Rohit Sharma’s decision to quit Test cricket just few days back. The selectors are due to announce the squad for the England series soon, and Kohli’s uncertain status is said to be complicating the process significantly. Should he go through with it, India would face the daunting five-match series with a largely inexperienced middle order.

Both Kohli and Rohit have faced scrutiny for their performances in the longer format recently. Despite questions surrounding both veterans, BCCI officials were reportedly still counting on Kohli to be a key figure in the upcoming series and were even considering him for the captaincy after Rohit’s exit.

“He’s firm in his decision and has informed the board about stepping away from red-ball cricket,” a BCCI insider revealed. “Given the importance of the England tour, we’ve requested him to reassess his decision. We’re waiting on his final word.”

The report also claims Kohli has been contemplating this move since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. While he began that series with a century in Perth, he struggled in the subsequent games, which may have influenced his mindset.

With a Test career spanning 123 matches, Kohli has amassed 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85. However, his recent form has dipped—scoring just 1,990 runs with three centuries in the last 37 Tests. Also Considering Virat Kohli’s his performance in Australia, where he averaged only 23.75 despite notching a century, further fueled retirement speculations. During a recent public appearance, Kohli had hinted that another Australia tour might not be on the cards for him.

If Kohli does step away, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul are expected to become the senior-most members of the middle order. Shubman Gill, despite his own patchy record in red-ball cricket lately, is reportedly in line to lead the side.
